Calcium Removal- Media Blasting Media blasting is the safest, most effective and environmentally friendly way to clean pool tile and Pebble Tec. Cleaning with harsh chemicals can permanently damage the fragile finish on your pool tile and Pebble Tec surface. Instead, we use a soft, water soluble mineral that is specifically made for tile and pebble tec. How does it work?

To start, a trained Atlas Pools, Inc. Service technician will lower the water level of your pool several inches below the tile line to make sure that all of the affected tiles are exposed or drain the pool depending on circumstance. In some cases, the pool may be completely drained.

Using our special pressurized equipment, we spray the tile with a 2000-3000 psi stream. We carefully clean all tiles that have calcium buildup and need cleaning. We take great care and use the correct pressure to clean your pool tile without damaging your tile.  Once all the calcium is removed from the pool tile, the debris and any undissolved material will settle to the bottom of the pool.

Clean up starts with the deck and surrounding areas, as well as rinsing any residual material off of the tile. Then using our own pump, we vacuum the debris and any of the undissolved media from the pool bottom.

SealantFinally, we apply a sealer/protectant to restore the beauty of your tile and to help prevent future calcium buildup. This coating creates a barrier on the surface and is designed to keep your water line cleaner, longer. It’s just another step we take to make sure the job is done right. We’ll then bring the water level of your swimming pool back up to the normal level and condition and balance the water.

Acid WashAn acid wash is typically performed as a cosmetic service for a swimming pool. As your pool ages, the surface can become stained or dirty. Acid washing your swimming pool or spa will exfoliate the surface and remove oxidized metals, algae stains, salt scale, rust, foreign particles and most unsightly stains from swimming pool plaster and Pebble Tec.

Additionally, if your pool has turned green it is likely that the algae has stained your pool's surface and no amount of chemicals added to the water will remove these stains. In this circumstance, draining and performing an acid wash is the most effective and in some extreme cases the only way to clean and restore your pools surface. With the power of our acid wash solution, we can bring it back-to-life and restore the original beauty of your plaster or Pebble Tec.

An Atlas Pools technician will evaluate your pool to determine if your pool is a good candidate for an acid wash. Some pools are not suitable for an acid wash depending on the condition of the surface. In cases where the plaster is peeling or spalling, acid washing the pool may make the condition worse and may not be recommended.
